Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2025: That’s great news! The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a spiritually significant and deeply meaningful pilgrimage for many. After being paused due to the pandemic and diplomatic issues, its resumption marks a positive step in India-China cooperation.
This year’s yatra will facilitate the journey of pilgrims through two distinct routes:
Uttarakhand Route (Lipulekh Pass): A total of 5 batches, each accommodating 50 yatris (pilgrims), will traverse through the state of Uttarakhand, eventually crossing over into Tibet (China) via the Lipulekh Pass. This route is traditionally undertaken on foot for a significant portion.
Sikkim Route (Nathu La Pass): An additional 10 batches, each also comprising 50 yatris, are scheduled to travel through the state of Sikkim, crossing over into Tibet through the Nathu La Pass. This route is generally considered more accessible as it involves vehicular transport for a larger part of the journey.
The official website for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, accessible at kmy.gov.in, is now open for the submission of applications from desirous pilgrims.
The selection of yatris from the pool of applicants will be conducted through a transparent and unbiased, computer-generated, random selection process that also ensures gender balance among the selected pilgrims. This method aims to provide a fair opportunity to all eligible applicants.
Furthermore, the MEA highlights that since 2015, the entire application and selection process has been fully computerised. Consequently, applicants are advised not to send any physical letters or faxes to seek information related to the yatra. The website provides dedicated feedback options that can be utilised for obtaining necessary information, registering any observations, or offering suggestions for potential improvements to the yatra process. This digital approach streamlines communication and ensures efficient handling of inquiries.
