‘Dawai Bhi, Kadaai Bhi’: India’s new mantra to fight Covid-19

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of AIIMS Rajkot through a video conference today. Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi remembered the efforts of the millions of doctors, health workers, scavengers and other frontline corona warriors who have constantly put their lives at stake to protect humanity. “This last day of the year is to remember India’s millions of doctors, health warriors, sanitation workers, and front line corona warriors. I salute the frontline warriors who have given their lives fulfilling their duty,” said PM Modi.

The Prime Minister said that this year showed that when India unites, it can effectively cope up with the most difficult crisis. “If 2020 was a year of health challenges, 2021 will be a year of health solutions. Today there has been seriousness regarding health and wellness across the country. We are seeing this vigilance in cities as well as in remote villages,” he added.

PM Modi exuded confidence that India is ready to roll out the world’s biggest vaccination drive against coronavirus. Preparations to reach out to each beneficiary are in the final stage, Modi said. “India is in a much better position as a result of the effective steps and India’s record of saving victims of corona has been much better than other countries. In India, every necessary preparation for the vaccine is going on. Efforts are in the final stages for making the vaccine made in India, rapidly reaching every nook and corner,” said PM Modi.

Prime Minister also said that earlier he had stated, “dawai nahi toh dheelai nahi” (no carelessness until the medicine arrives for COVID-19) but now he is saying “dawai bhi aur kadaai bhi” (Yes to the medicine and yes to caution as well). Our mantra for the year 2021 is ‘Dawai bhi aur kadaai bhi’,” said PM Modi.

He futher said that as the diseases are becoming globalised, it is time for coordinated global response for global health solutions. India has done this as a global player. India proved its mettle by adapting, evolving and expanding as per demand. India moved with the world and did value addition in the collective efforts. “India is emerging as the nerve centre of global health, in 2021 we need to further strengthen this role of India,” the Prime Minister added,
