World Happiness Report 2021: Where does India stand?

Finland has taken the top spot for the fourth consecutive year as the happiest country in the world despite the novel coronavirus pandemic’s devastating effects. These are the findings of the World Happiness Report 2021, issued by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. The annual report, released by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, measures subjective well-being by relying on three main indicators: life evaluations, positive emotions, and negative emotions.

The World Happiness Report 2021 focuses on the effects of Covid-19 and how people all over the world have fared. The report was released on Friday. “Our aim was two-fold, first to focus on the effects of COVID-19 on the structure and quality of people’s lives, and second to describe and evaluate how governments all over the world have dealt with the pandemic. In particular, we try to explain why some countries have done so much better than others,” it said.

According to the report, Iceland, Denmark and Switzerland are second third and fourth respectively on the list for the Happiest countries in the world. The US stands 14th on the list, while the UK is in the number 18 position.
